'Tis The Season...

...for radio and TV stations to fill their newscasts with self promotions.

CBC Toronto - Sounds Of The Season
CTV - Toy Mountain
CFRB - (still unmarried) Andy Kim's Whatever

I'm glad there is nothing unethical about this.
Does this qualify as fake news?

Re: 'Tis The Season... WBEN was doing their SPCA radio-a-thon.
Was mentioned on their newscast; was this a news story?

Re: 'Tis The Season...

If you think that's bad, get ready. Bell's 'Let's Talk Day' is coming up, which means every one of their stations will devote endless hours trying to prove how selfless the company is. Even though you have to use their phone system to make a contribution.

'Tis The Season for Giveaways...

Rush is giving every caller this month until Christmas a new IPHONE, 7 or 7 plus.
What's the other stations giving away?

WOW!   CFRB giving away LOTTO MAX gift cards and Mary Tyler Moore Mugs.
How about job notices to some of their on air staff.

It's too soon for that. They have to wait until, say, December 23rd to destroy their livelihoods and their holidays. This IS Bell we're talking about after all.

Still, when those jobs are gone, they can always recommend counselling as part of "Let's Talk Day." Sorry, "BELL Let's Talk Day."

We have to get the corporate name in there every single time or otherwise, what's the point?
