Milton gets new FM station

In the interest of closing out a previous thread on the now defunct SOWNY, it's worth noting that the CRTC has approved MyFM's application for a new station in Milton, at 101.3 on the dial, with an AC/gold format. Power will be just 228 watts, with an ERP of 950. Will that be enough to reach the major Toronto audience? Either way, this is the closest MyFM has gotten to the GTA proper. The licence comes with a price. They had to commit to 38% CanCon.

Also interesting that two stations on nearby frequencies (CJSA Toronto, aka the ethnic CMR, and CKOT-FM Tillsonburg) complained about possible interference, but the CRTC didn't buy it.

Re: Milton gets new FM station

I honestly say good luck with that station.  At one time Milton was a town in itself and it might have worked.  Last time I was there it was just a giant, rapidly growing suburb.  The folks living there move there for the cheaper housing, not for the community.  The core of Milton is quite nice but it's been overwhelmed by rapid development, traffic, etc.

At best you might get some long time locals and the rabid community types, But they are few and far between.
