Sorry to disagree.  But I enjoy listening to a variety of U.S. local talk show hosts including WBZ's Dan Rae.  In fact Roy Green on CHML is the only Canadian radio program I listen to.

Regarding the syndicated hourly news updates provided for small stations and overnight local new replacements:

(1)  Do any stations take advantage of the one minute sports go-op and substitute it with local news?
(2)  Is a whole minute reporting sports too long, especially if they don't provide the scores for games in progress?
(If a game is in progress, they just say the game is un progress but not the score.)

How long a show runs or for how many episodes doesn't necessarily mean it's a success, especially if it's on public broadcasting and receiving taxpayers' money.  I wouldn't consider The National a success.

I would love to direct an episode of Heartland.  I'll wait for the episode they kill off Punky Brewster,  have the ranch raided and discover a drug lab and have Heather Conkie reprise her role as Aunt Agnes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIzPMHXG5_o

My quarrel with Heather Conkie is when she was host of Report Canada.  She always asked her audience to send in drawings of beavers.  What is her obsession with beavers?

In response to Bucky's response,

1)  Sorry for the spelling errors and typos, I'm working with a new hp keyboard.
2)  I don't claim this to be my own personal sounding board; the other 100+ views for this topic alone should prove this, unless the view count is wrong, which would mean that the Undemocratic Party and the voting at the  Partly Conservative Party of Canuckistan isn't the only thing that is rigged.
3) Heartland uses a variety of directors, including one of their actors.  It is noticeable when he is directing by the shots by the camera angle.
4) With the term 'straight' actors.  It doesn't need an explanation.
5) Other people may choose not to comment on some subjects on online forums because of political correctness.

Thank you for renewing this show, I need something to put to sleep Sunday Nights.
Gummy Bears in Mongolia?  Maggie's in Manhattan?  I'm on my way.
Some piece of advice for Heather Conkie (aka Aunt Agnes) - don't let actors director episodes, doesn't work.
If actors don't want to work the full season; if they have something more important to do, fire them.
And please hire straight actors, some people can't hide it.

I really enjoyed Doctor Jeremiah's sermon on 'Pride' on WDCX 970 and CJYE 1250 yesterday.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WtJAGrVrXI

Proud people are (1)  defensive when criticized,
                             (2)  think they have nothing to repent of
                             (3)  claim rights; have a demanding spirit
                             (4) have a drive to be recognized (wounded when others are promoted and they are overlooked)

I don't want to discredit him even though I did not share his left wing politics.
I shouldn't have posted that 'I read some place that 'The Vinyl Café' was based on an American story' without posting the evidence.  I'll keep doing research on that.
The names David and Morley were based on Stuart's friend David Morley who now works at UNICEF Canada.  https://alumni.carleton.ca/mentors/morley-david/
He was a good story teller apparently.

But I prefer Dr. David Jeremiah, his stories are true and just as funny. http://www.davidjeremiah.org/site/lovechangeseverything/home.aspx?goto=radio
There were tributes on CBC Radio throughout the weekend, but ironically and strangely,  Eleanor Wachtel only gave a very brief mention before her show, and she never interview him.

Yes, hence the nickname 'Jimmy Stuart McLean'.

I was going to post something about his death, but after doing some research on line, I hesitated.
I read some place that 'The Vinyl Café' was based on an American story, just like
Trouble With Tracy, Heartland (U.K.), Littlest Hobo, Rick Mercer Report, etcetera.
CBC Radio One played a documentary (today at 01:00) he did  in the 1970's about illegal drug trafficking; I couldn't listen to it because of his voice.
Rest assured he is in heaven, story telling, "Today I have two stories, two stories about David. In the first story David kills Goliath with a Turkey and then has to explain to Jesus what happened.  In the second story..."

The merger between CBS and Entercom was done mainly for their music division not for AM (talk) stations.
AM stations can be sold off.  Two of the stations in Boston, MA must be sold off to comply with FCC rules; probably WRKO-680 talk will be one.

Viewership dropped by only 39%?
Who decided not to watch the U.S. commercials on Fox?
I guess the guy in B.C. who won the $150 000 in that (I want to say 'rigged' but I can't) contest is happy.
They're saying this little drop is the sole reason why they had to layoff all those people; how much more of a drop in ratings do they have to go to layoff those nasty women on The Social, or that woman who can't read the teleprompter on the weekend?

Did it bother anyone that the so-called singers who sang America The Beautiful added the word 'sisterhood'?

Pending FCC approval, the CBS|Entercom merger should take place in the second half of this year.
CBSRadio will own 72% of the new stock.  Entercom will control 5 of the 9 board of directors, including CEO.
Follows Disney selling off their radio division.

Changes at WBEN Buffalo?
- Could revert back to CBS NEWS
- eliminating some off air jobs
- possible rebranding to 'CBS Buffalo'

The Conan Show on TBS and CTV will be reduced to a weekly airing, time to be determined.

The cause of this is due to low ratings, naturally.

I guess NBC was right to replace him  with Jay.

Perhaps if Conan wanted higher ratings he should stop bashing Trump.

If Rush Limbaugh (Talk Radio) can be  blamed for the Oklahoma City Bombing, don't we have to blame the late night so-called comics for this ...http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/chicago-beating-disabled-1.3922177

Its well known that Bill Carroll last words to his KFI Los Angeles audience was
'Don't Vote For Donald Trump...You're Better Than That..."

But on a hush roundtable (which I heard repeated before 5:00am one day this week) I heard somewhat come to his defence.  I'm assuming that he has changed his mind about D.T. and was routing for him to win?  Can anybody confirm this?

Thanks...

(I try not to listen to him, CFRB, lieberal media...)

More dumbbells today on RB:

The 8:30 news reader said this about the death of Jarryl Hagley, the 17 year old boy who died early Sunday at a PizzaPizza in TO.

'The teen probably didn't know it was going to be his last meal.'  Which could translate into the teen possibly knew it was going to be his last meal.
Really?

This beats the WBEN newsreader giving the score for the Bill's game during Sunday's 3:30 newscast saying "34 to16 is your score" but not mentioning who had 34, or a CFRB newsreader saying today that tonight's low will 'only' be 19.
