this board has turned into a pathetic train wreck of one person's exaggerated views.  i tune in as i do to fox news, simply to see what the next level of ridiculous exposition will be achieved.  i depart feeling dirty and less informed than when i arrived, yet i also have a base desire to witness stupidity at work.... as in the success of youtube's fail army.

lol Eldon, if i really cared enough about this particular linguistic variance, i'd email the mayor or the museum.  fortunately, the junos are coming up and i'm knee deep in a reddit thread about who's going to win classical conductor of the year. i hope its someone from toronna.

With broadcast studios in Owen Sound and Collingwood (but not in Wah-sah-ga) it's probably not a reliable resource on this topic

um ya, that was meant as sarcasm.  thanks for picking up on that!

it's still Wah-say-ga

anyway, as a 30 year resident of simcoe county, i vote for wa-say-ga. those who say wa-sah-ga are the same who say tor-ron-TO instead of toronna..  Spent many an hour at the DA-rd, not the da-RD.

such a silly thing, but at least this board is talking about something!!!

yes, what i love is that anyone who points out trump lunacy is immediately labelled a "leftie".  maybe they represent the majority public opinion.  or maybe they point out the hypocrisy of the administration.  or maybe they just lay out facts as they see them, with a bent toward humour.

I guess i must be a "leftie" too.  i do agree that the use of "mainstream media" has become a pejorative.... since the alt-media is nothing if not biased, as is the american cnn vs fox.

Ultimately, your question should be... what does america consider funny and why?  Clearly they think it's trumpy bear, otherwise it wouldn't be broadcast nightly.  Joking about pro-gun ownership or anti-abortion just ain't funny.  every president has been the butt of jokes, that's historical, both bushes ("not gonna do it..." Carvey, SNL) Clinton, Reagan, etc.  even key/peele took shots at obama.  trump just happens to provide dozens of opportunities per week more than even bush jr.

I find most truths offered by colbert, kimmel, bee, oliver, or noah far more sad than funny, in that the political manipulation of truth rarely filters through the lens of their own media spin.

i'm actually all a-titter.  the recent FCC ruling that foreign nationals can have 100% control of radio stations leads me to wonder when Canadian broadcasters, like Rogers in SSM or Acadia in Fort Frances, will try to buy out their american competitors.

to GOD HELP US

1) Typos these days are somehow acceptable and forgivable, for whatever reason.
2) investigating the Quad Cities posts going back to Jan 1 2017, you are responsible for over 90% of originating articles posted, regardless of views.
3) Heartland has existed for 10 seasons so far, and apparently successfully.  Perhaps you could offer to direct an episode?
4)  why don't you just call them "fags" or "queers" as is your non-politically correct wont?
5) I am not one of those people.

well said, and perfectly elucidated.    Grammatically proper and delivered with the clearest of intentions.

please elaborate, I would appreciate your further thoughts on hiring "straight actors" for example.
I, too, hate it when actors "director" episodes.  Give me "some piece of advice" to advance your theory.

Thanks for sharing.on what turns out to be your own personal sounding board, because nobody else clearly is involved with the  kw/g/l/h radio & media forum......

on the one hand, the conservatives (small c) demand the CBC be held accountable, and on the other the lower case liberals expect more from their public broadcaster.  if low ratings mean turfing Shad then why should it work any differently than mainstream commercial radio.  can't win, don't try.

Query?  aren't Shads those annoying bugs that die all over the cottage windows every nite in july anyway?

nevertheless, one will note CRTC 2015-405 which determines The licensee shall devote at least 50% of the evening broadcast period to the broadcast of Canadian programs.

Moreover, in that same decision TVO confirmed the following:

TVO stated that approximately 70% of its schedule is dedicated to children’s and youth programming broadcast mainly during the 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. portion of the broadcast day. TVO’s exhibition requirements should therefore take into account the nature of the programming being broadcast and its target audience: children’s programming during the daytime when children are watching, and documentaries and current affairs programming in the evening broadcast period when adults are the viewing audience.

Therefore, bitch as you will, TVO is fulfilling their mandate.

The CRTC has called for comments on whether the Grimsby/Beamsville market can handle a new FM radio station.

Now i don't know the geography that well, but surely there are other broadcasters already covering that market from Toronto, Hamilton, or St. Catharines?  The CRTC calls it a "first service".  Really?

Again, just asking some random questions.  Your current logic escapes me.

your entry dripped with the seething effluent of "somewhere else" as you put it.  I return to my original point.  If you had something poignant to say about radio cuts, as your title suggested, why would you waste time with the above noted quote as an introduction.  It belittled whatever position you were taking.

so you come on here and waste people's time with your incessant rantings about that board.  This is why Quad almost got shut down in the first place, because of people like you needing to vent your spleen to someplace that wouldn't fight back.

I guess all their retirement investments were also cleansed of all these "evil" companies as well? Meh, some people love to mire in the past, remembering the good ole times. Wake the hell up - the past wasn't all that great, either.

Indeed some people from the "somewhere else" bored.  We're all tired of living in the past when Quad was a bitching board for SOWNY.  you could have been original and eliminated that sentence, and made your own original point.   but hey, i have a right to my opinion too....
