CRTC Call for Market Capacity, Grimsby and Beamsville

The CRTC has called for comments on whether the Grimsby/Beamsville market can handle a new FM radio station.

Now i don't know the geography that well, but surely there are other broadcasters already covering that market from Toronto, Hamilton, or St. Catharines?  The CRTC calls it a "first service".  Really?

Re: CRTC Call for Market Capacity, Grimsby and Beamsville

It seems like a fair request given that the CRTC had decided that the Hamilton-Burlington market could not support another station. There's been a proliferation of local suburban stations in Metro Vancouver and Toronto and this proposed station carries on that trend despite the availability of dozens of regional signals from Toronto, Hamilton and St. Catharines in that market.

The flood of refugees arriving from Alberta could lead to a vintage country format working there, to compete with 1300 WXRL Buffalo/Lancaster

I've seen some of the interventions flying freely.  There's going to be a bun fight between those that want to apply and those that want to keep any new group out.  should be fun!
