That's interesting, but not that unusual. They used to have a weather guy who was based, if memory serves, in Pennsylvania and did all of his forecasts from there. 

IIRC, Brian Hill was also in the U.S. when he was doing 680 forecasts. Technology makes it possible. For better or worse, it's the voice and the credentials that matter, not the where the person is.
