"I heard it again last night and you know that I shouldn't"

On "As It Happens" .. 'We reached out to ____ but they refused to comment'

WTF? Doesn't anybody simply phone someone anymore?

Besides, "reaching out"  is inaccurate.  The accurate  inference  is  that there  has been an estrangement of some  kind and that one of the parties "reaches out" to offer an olive branch. Yes, that probably means a phone call, but a phone call doesn't always mean one is "reaching out".     Is calling a bro and asking, "Dude wanna get wasted tonight?", reaching out?

And don't get me started on "going forward"!   "Next week"  isn't good enough for you?

Then there's "at this hour".   Have you ever, in your life, EVER,  E  V  E  R  heard anyone who is not an alien say "at this hour"?

You have not. Then why do you?

Use real words. The words real people use.
