Nice to see Big Yella continuing here. Quite a few ex-SOWNY regulars here I see.

Another former member of Sowny here . I missed the old forum for as long as it took to register here lol. I do wish to thank Phil, Ian , and those before them for their work in keeping the old stomping ground going. I joined the Sowny forum about two years ago thinking it was a place to learn about local radio news and the like. I really had no idea that it was just a board for the most part for bickering , insulting and criticism. At that time , Bruce M was a major poster , and posted continual hatred towards the Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford to the point of ad nausem. He was, however , man enough to use his own identity and stood behind what he said. Unike John ' Ziggy " Kato who , even when outed , still denied who he was which I found just cowardly. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever for his obvious descent into mental illness .There was no reason for his continual personal attacks against Ted, DL, and David Marsden . These men are icons in the broadcast industry in this country . His tirades against these gentlemen where just bizzare let alone disrespectful and likely borne from extreme jealousy. Likewise his hatred of Stafford and anything 640 and Corrus. I can only guess he tried to get work there and failed. I really hope he gets some help . I look forward to reading posts here in the future. I hope some decorum will be the norm and the moderator will enforce the same. Irvine, if you enjoy the forums you posted about, why don't just just frequent those ones and leave it there. Thank you. MM.

Sowny is already back. All good I guess we have two options now. This from the old broadhost site:
This is a forum for information and discussion about radio and television related 'stuff' in and around, but not limited to, the Southern Ontario, Western New York area.
If something interesting happens, post about it.
If someone interesting dies, please feel free to post about it. I like obits. I like honouring people who contributed something, and not everyone has time to read every single source on the internet. If you are not the moderator, and don't like what someone else posts, move on to the next post. Your opinion on their editorial judgement is not welcome.
I'm not interesting in re-hashing who, what, or why the last incarnation of Sowny is no longer around.
As they say, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and everyone thinks everyone elses stinks. So please just keep your thoughts and opinions on that to yourself.
If in any way you don't like these ground rules, don't waste any more time, and don't sign up.
I don't want you as a participant.
Personal attacks of any matter will be deleted.
What is a personal attack?
Easy...
If I think it's a personal attack I will delete it.
If it continues in any form, I'll delete you.
That simple.
k?
Sign in under one name.
If multiple posts appear from a single IP Address, I reserve the right to delete all the accounts except the original one. Don't be an idiot and create multiple accounts to facilitate a spirited discussion between you and your alter ego.
Alias' are allowed.
I understand why they are important, especially in this industry. BUT I want to know your real name. If you don't feel comfortable giving me your real name and contact information, there's a simple solution. Don't sign up.
I will be approving every participant personally.
You might think you're being creative with an e-mail account or login name but if I discover you're not who you say you are, or at the first sign of trouble, you're gone.
Keep it positive and don't be an asshole.
As they put it over at Quadcities, 'don't be a dick'.This is not a public service, it's not a democracy, it's not a socialist experiment. it's a private forum that users are allowed to participate in. You have no god given right to post here. If I don't like you, If I don't like your posts, either, or both will be deleted on a whim.
Use real names for companies.
We've heard all the 'creative' versions for Rogers, Corus, Bell etc. First time was funny, but the first time was years ago.It really is that simple. As Craig would have said 'play nicely' or go home. As Iain would say, 'play nicely or f$ck off'.
Either way, if you don't like the rules, You're more than welcome to participate as a viewer.
Iain Grant
Moderator.

And the fun begins. Latest registered user at the new SOWNY, Satan Claus LOL. Enjoy having all your free time burned up by constant emails about lawsuits, harassment & bullshit. ;-)

Exactly what will constitute an acceptable post? Will it be about the content or will the filters be based on who is your friend?
Everyone has his/her own take but I'm guessing (and hoping) spirted debate on issues will be acceptable while personal attacks would not be.
For instance:
"That's an idiotic suggestion!" -- allowed
"You're an idiot with that suggestion!" -- not allowed.
But that's just my own $0.02.

Hey Chris...
That reminds me of Dave Broadfoot explaining the difference between an American and a Canadian.
"If you cut an American off in traffic he yells, 'You f***in' asshole!'
The Canadian yells, 'What are Ya? Some kind of f***in' asshole??!!'"
:D

Well on the plus side, looks like Iain has listed this forum on his new forum. If you recall he removed it previously after people on this forum started dissing SOWNY. I guess there is harmony in the bitter, cynical radio industry. If this keeps up Stafford and Ziggy will become friends.

Haha, Mike! I hadn't heard that one. Brilliant man, that Broadfoot.

Hope I'm not going too off topic with another Dave Broadfoot-ism. "In the US, people don't know if their politicians are telling the truth. In Canada, we know."

Sowny was well past its due date. Great to read constructive discussion without negativity. Thanks to whoever is moderating. Here's hoping some previous contributors get wind of this forum. If it's described as a secret, it'll go through the biz quickly and there'll be an influx of accounts restored.
